María Isabel Alvarez was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala and is currently an MFA Candidate in fiction at Arizona State University. Her stories have appeared or are forthcoming in Gulf Coast, Black Warrior Review, Sonora Review, Arts & Letters, Storyscape Journal and elsewhere.
