such ​a ​thin ​line,

both ​swollen ​and ​inexorable, ​two ​strangers
rubbing ​elbows

in ​a ​crowded ​room. ​I ​watch ​clouds
before ​the ​storm,

marvel ​at ​how ​something ​can ​be ​so
heavy, ​on ​the ​brink

of ​collapse, ​and ​still ​float.
