Light rain persists, a pittering
on branch knuckle and petal mold,
a wet whisper glazed into leaf-sheen.
I recall another rain day,
a green slicker without a hood,
a girl with a girl
under a covered bridge
not knowing exactly where
to put our hands,
glasses off or on when we kiss—
whether or not
to keep my eyes closed
the whole time.
